Briana is an American citizen born to Tanzanian parents. Briana found herself not qualified legally by the Tanzanian constitution to own any property through inheritance from her parents.
In searching for answers and raising awareness, Briana had multiple press interviews to address the need and importance of allowing Diaspora children to inherit their parents’ properties. After a couple of interviews in Tanzania Mainland, Briana traveled to Zanzibar, an island in the Region of Unguja, to meet Government officials.

In Unguja, Maisara City, she met the Chief Secretary of land and Settlement development of Zanzibar, Mr. Joseph John Kilangi. After a brief interview, Honorable Kirangi promised to assist Briana through the Government of Zanzibar to help achieve her dream by providing needed support. It was then when the great ideas to have a platform where ideas, knowledge, skills, and intelligence will be exchanged and shared between the Tanzania Diaspora Youth and the youth of Zanzibar.

There, Tanzania Diaspora Youth Association(TDYA) was BORN.
